what are the needs of electrical earthing.... other than
protection?

Sorry. There is another reason that I have completly forgot.
I am not sure about the english term but I think is "static
electricity". Electrical charges apeares in an isolating
material with friction and they must be discharge to the
earth. Examples are for the buildings that create electrical
charges with the wind. So to discharge them you must connect
it to earth. Another very well known example is for
combustibles. As the electrical charges in pipes or in
trucks can create a spark (bolt) and they are a potencial
font of ignition. Normaly both trucks, pipes, and fuel tanks
are connetct with eachother and also to earth.
