What is the function of pulse transformer?
Answer Posted / bhavneet
The transformers are generally dI/dt modules but where in
there is requirement of transformers in switching the sudden
change in current offers very high inductance, which can
distort the output waveform. If the input square wave the
output might be distorted to trapezoidal forms or can have
transients going back into the input line also, as in case
of inverters. A pulse transformer is very very low on
hysteresis and can transfer almost 1:1 input waveform to
Output. Also thereby eliminating any time lag in the
pulse. Its feasible for lower currents but for higher
currents its very very expensive to produce.
