An entry other than Receipt, Receipt (Bank or Cash) Purchase
& Sales transaction is passed through journal. Basically all
vouchers are in journal format only like, Purchase Journal,
Sales Journal, Payment Journal & Receipt Journal. However
transaction other than these and adjustment entries are
passed through 'General Journal', which is normally referred
to as just 'Journal'.
Recording a transaction or an adjustment is called Journal
Entry and the document created by a journal entry is called
'Journal Voucher'
Basic requirement of any entry mentioned above is that the
total amount on debit side shoulod match with the total
amount on teh credit side.
