What is the working of vaccum distilation coloumn in a
petroleum refinary?
Answer Posted / anand
actually above 350-375 oC temp. the crude oil is going to
crack and the light product will form. but the main aim of
this distillation process is to seperate the various
fractions rather than producing the light product. so to
avoid this the residue of the atmospheric distillation
tower is processed under vacuum above 350 oC and we get the
various types of product which will be useful for making
various types of lubricating oil, mineral oil, transformer
oil, quenching oil etc.
