In Shops & Establishment Act (or other relevant Act if
applicable), Salary Slabs and applicable Profession Rates
will be mentioned. It's Nil to a certain level of salary,
there after progressive rates are levied for higher salary
limits. The rate may differ from State to State in India as
it comes under the purview of State Government.
Besides Salary, Profession Tax is applicable on business
units and others.
For details refer the relevant Act in the State you need to
use it.
