What are various power system instabilities and what are
their effects on power system operation?

There are mainly three types of power system instabilities
1)Rotor angle instability:It arises due to real power(P)
imbalance.If the situation continues for a long time there
will be mechanical problem with rotor.
2)voltage instability:It arises due to reactive power(Q)
imbalance.If the situation persists for a long time there
will be voltage collapse or Black-out situation within the
system.
3)Frequency imbalance:It is due to power generation
imbalance.If not corrected within the time limit, there will
be islanding of some part of system.

Why frequency changes due to load variation in power system ? i.e why when load increases frequency decreases?
In case of HV test on medium voltage cables, BS is asking for 4 U0 where as IEC is asking for 3.5 U0. Can any one advise me how this 3.5 times or 4 times U0 is derived?
