why micro processor can store maximum of eight bits for

Because ALU architecture r based on address bus and data bus structure or size i. a processor can have minimum of 255 (starting from 0) memory location and I think that in hex it is FFh and 2^8=256.So a processor have atleast 8 bit for each memory location.
