Relay is a part of protective device used in cojunction
with the circuit breaker in power system protection
applications. It can detect the fault when the operating
current flowing through the relay coil exceeds the pick up
value. But it cannot directly isolate the circuit instead
its action will lead to circuit breaker to operate and will
isolate the circuit in case of a fault.
