What kind of shell systems are used for investment casting?
Answer Posted / siva varun
investment castings are used for casting high melting metals
to have zero allowances/draft(dimensional tolerances due to
shrinkage). Here the shell system used(mold) can only be
used once. The shells generally used are made out of wax.
The mould melts as the refractory metal solidifies.
