what is the difference between Earth and neutral? and what
is the difference between ground earthing and neutral
earthing?
Answer Posted / pillay
Ground Earthing is provided entirely for safety. Its purpose
is to ensure the equipment is safe even when there is a
leakage of voltages and current and weather the protection cct
works or not. This saves lives maybe yours or mine.So good
ground earth is very very important.
Neutral earth is provided to ensure the neutral is maintained
at zero potential. If the neutral is not maintained at zero
potential the voltages across the phases will vary according
to the current carried by the individual phases thus creating
instability in the system.
