Why water treatment is required for boiler feed water?

water if used directly contains minerals in it which might
cause salt deposits on the inner surface of the tubes and
the boiler shell, which might reduce the heat transfer rates
considerably....
apart from this presence of salts and other minerals
increases the boiling point of water hence increasing the
heat input to it...
due to this reasons, demineralisation of water is done
before feeding it to the economiser...
