How to increse bearing capacity in soils (Stabilisation of
soils)
Answer Posted / ramir v. agustin
If condition of soil is very poor and higher soil bearing
capacity is needed especially in areas where big structure
or building is to be constructed, soil improvement should
be done. This should be accomplished by excavatiing the area
and and backfilling at least 150mm minimum of road base or
sub grade then subject it to compaction. Also you must know
the MMD(maximum dry density) and OMC (optimum moisture
content of the the soil for backfilling to be used to know
how much degree of compaction you will apply. The no. of
layers and thicknes of soil depends on Load Bearing
requirements.
