You have to design a machine component. For what type of
failure (ductile or brittle) you will design?

Answer Posted / kumar suman saurabh

basically machine component design for brittle failure will
surely be safe for ductile mat bcoz in ductile mat stress
conc and fatigue is not as critical as in brittle mat...so
we should design for brittle failure which ultimately will
safeguard a ductile failure but it will add to economy and
fall under overdesign category.
