what is phase to phase fault? what is line to line fault?
Answer Posted / ashwin
There are basically 4 types of fault
Symmetrical fault is
1. 3phase fault and
Unsymmetrical faults are
2.Line to ground fault,
3.line to line fault and
4.line to line to ground fault.
Phase fault occurs when one of the line falls on any ground structure.
line to line fault occurs when any two lines of the 3 come in contact with each other without any physical contact with the ground...
Phase to phase fault occurs when any two lines of the 3 come in contact with the ground structure, in other words phase to phase fault is line to line to ground fault.
