why field winding is placed on rotor winding not on stator
winding in case of synchronous machine?
Answer Posted / ankitshah
actually the rotor has very less current flowing throuth it
and for designing synchrounous of large capacity there
would be excessive heating at brush contact which puts a
limitation on it, at the same time field winding is given
dc current which is less compared to armature current. Also
by putting armature on stator higher voltage can be
generated.
