what is the difference between power and distribution
transformer?
Answer Posted / shvetang dave
Power Transformer are used for step up purpose from
trnasmission station to distribution station. Normally from
750 KV to 11 KV it is to be used. It is design for only I2R
losses b'coz Iron losses are constant b'coz it is operated
for constant application.
Whereas distribution Transformers are used for step down
purposes b'cos it is used for distribution purposes. It can
be used for Factory's required power as well as in society
it can be used for home's use. It can be used for 11 kv to
230 Voltage purposes. It can be Design for iron losses
b'coz It is operated for 70 to 80% operation so I2R losses
are not so much important
