Which are the companies listed in national fifty(NIFTY) and
sensitive index(SENSEX)
Answer Posted / raj
Well everybody now knows that there are 30 companies listed
on the Sensex and 50 on the NIFTY. They are listed based on
the Market cap.
Now what does Market cap means.
Market cap = numbers of shares * last price traded
This makes Reliance industries the heaviest script on the
index. It has close to 10% weightage on the indexes.
The market cap for Reliance industries is Rs.295,088 crore
As the value of shares increases and decreases the
companies move in and out of the index.
example Satyam - The day Raju made the confession the
script fell from Rs 200 to Rs 20 and the market cap for the
company was reduced to just 10 % and so that gave way for
new script Reliance capital (As far as i remember)
I hope it helps
