A solid body of weight W is placed in a pipe. Suppose
water is started flowing through the pipe.what will happen
to the body. when it will start flowing ?
Answer Posted / ananth
The body is in a state of rest. There is friction between
the body and the pipe wall. The force of friction is the
product of the body's weight (not mass) and the friction
coefficient. This friction force resists any motion and
acts against the esternal force. If the water flows with
sufficient velocity, there can be Let the mass of water
coming in contact with the stone be Mw. Assuming it comes
to total stop on hitting the stone, the momentum transfer
to the body from the water will enable the body's movement.
