Stator of three phase induction motor creates Rotating
Magnetic field.But why not Transformer?
Answer Posted / pugezhenthi.p
In transformer we provide the path [steel] for the
electromagnetic flux. So there is no interaction b/w the
flux. But in Induction Motor there is no separate path for
the magnetic flux. All the three phase fluxes are spread out
to the air gap, at the time only interaction b/w the flues
are possible. The interaction gives total resultant flux,
which is constant magnitude throughout the whole cycle, but
the axis of resultant flux is changes with respect to the
whole cycle. So we call this one as a Rotating Magnetic
Field[RMF].
