The Internal oscillator is accurate to 5% where as the
external crystal oscillator can be more accurate. Crystal
oscillator is used for precise timing application. The newer
PICmicro have internal oscillator that are 1% accurate.
The internal oscillator is typically 4 or 8 MHZ maximum. If
you need higher frequency, say 10 MHz, then the external
oscillator need to be used.
