HVDC is a new development in the transmission industry.
Advantages are jwL tends to 0 and 1/jwC tends to infinity.
that means in your DC steady state operation inductors act
as a short circuit and capacitors act as open circuits
hance no reactive and active power . you alaway run a unity
pf.
Initially it was not feasible due to transformation but
thans to inverters and rectifiers, we wan convert DC into
AC transform it using a transformer and convert if back to
DC using a rectifier . Its is that simple,.
