In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer
span because, bending moment is directly proportional to
length but why in case of one way slab main steel is
provided along shorter span while as bending takes place
along longer span?comment

BECAUSE IN CASE OF ONE WAY SLAB THE LOAD IS TRANSFERED
THROUGH THE SHORTER SPAN ONLY.
AND
IT IS POSSIBLE TO DESIGN IT (MAI STEEL) ALONG LONGER SPANS
TOO BUT THE STEEL REQUIREMENT WILL BE MORE AND HENCE IT
WILL NOT BE VIABLE SOLUTION.9THIS IS THE MAIN REASON.
