What is Biased Generator Differential Relay?

Answer Posted / gova

Hi

we are encouraging the diff.relay not to trip for external
fault or through fault by providing restraining or biasing
coils. It is a single coil which is divided into two coil
having same number of turns.

If there is any unbalance in this coils, then the current
will flow through the operating coil and trip the
circuit.this unbalance will come when there is a internal
fault or CT mismatch or CT saturation etc
