What is ment by KVAR and what are the advantage&dis-
advantages of KVAR
Answer Posted / pradeep
kvar is nothing but the reactive power which is injected by
the capacitor bank. this power is similar to the real power
which generated by the generating unit.
by using capacitor bank we reduce losses like transmission
loss etc.,
advantages:
1. easy to convert the 2-phase into 3-phase.
2. reduce the losses and increase the efficiency.
3. it ensure upto 200Mhz
disadvantages:
1. it will inject the more power when bank is not necessary.
2. expensive due to connecting the capacitor bank.
