What is power factor? Whether it should be high or low ?
why?
Answer Posted / victorvgp
Power factor = cos(phi)
where,
phi - is the phase angle between system voltage and current.
The value of cos (phi) lies between 0 and 1
It should be maintain high, because the lower the power
factor higher the transmission losses
hence, as per the tariff we should pay penalty for lower
power factor.
In order to avoid penalty, we should maintain p.f above 0.9
r u got it.
