why, when birds sit on transmission lines or current wires

the bird's leg will make contact with only one phase of the
transmission wire.there will be no short circuit in this
connection.so there will be no current flow through the
body of the bird and it remains safe.when the bird makes
itself in contact with other phase line or with the neutral
line it will be affected.
