Describe the term directory?..

Answer / Amit Kumar Pal

A directory is a special file in Unix-like operating systems that stores other files and directories hierarchically. Directories are used to organize files and facilitate easy navigation of the file system. Every file or directory in the system has a unique path, which consists of its directory hierarchy. The root directory (/) is the topmost directory from which all other directories are organized.
