Explain measures taken for web regulation.
Answer / Ravi Prabhat
The Government of India has implemented several measures to regulate the web. The Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, aim at ensuring accountability of digital media platforms, protecting user privacy and combating misinformation. Additionally, the IT Act, 2000, penalizes cyber crimes such as hacking, identity theft, and posting offensive content. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) also monitors web traffic to identify potential threats.
