WinNT (Windows NT) is a family of operating systems developed by Microsoft starting in 1993. It includes Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, among others. Windows 2000 was released in 1999 and is an upgrade to Windows NT. It introduced a number of new features like the Active Directory, Remote Desktop, and the .NET Framework. Windows XP, released in 2001, is an upgrade to Windows 2000 and is more consumer-oriented. Windows Server 2003, released in 2003, is a server version of Windows XP with additional features for managing networks.
