Corona discharge, which occurs when an electric field ionizes air molecules, can lead to the production of ozone (O3) and the emission of light, including violet color. This phenomenon is due to the excitation and subsequent de-excitation of nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the presence of an electrical discharge.
