The normal vacuum pressure in a steam turbine atmospheric condenser is typically around 0.6 bar absolute (or 29 inches of mercury). This low pressure helps reduce pumping power requirements and increase the turbine's efficiency. Factors that can cause the pressure to fall include water leaks, fouling of heat transfer surfaces, improper cooling water flow, or a decrease in condenser surface area.
