Streptococcus salivarius is a common bacterium found in the oral cavity, particularly on the tongue and in the subgingival plaque. It is one of the main components of the normal flora of the mouth. The highest numbers of Streptococcus salivarius are usually found on the posterior dorsal aspect of the tongue.
