Question Why a starter is used for a motor?
Question Asked In Companies :: L&T, Nilachal Polytechnic,     < I also faced this Question! >

generally the resistance of armature is very small i.e in
term of .05ohm or like this.this is due to reduce the
losses.if the motor is connected direct supply high current
will flow and it may burn the armature winding.thats why
starter is connected between supply and motor which reduces
the starting current and provided smooth operation
