The online test was conducted on January 25, 2008 in my college(Ujjain 
Engg College, Ujjain). The test began late in the evening and was taken in 
two shifts. The eligibilty criteria for the exam was 60%+ in 10th, 12th 
and B.E. 150+ students appeared for the entrance test and 108 cleared the 
test.

Online Test(January 25 2008):

It consisted of three section(there was sectional cutoff):

1. Verbal(32 questions, 20 minutes)

a)10 Synonyms and 10 Antonyms: For this prepare the chapter on antonyms 
from GRE Barrons' 12th edition. And also atleast once solve all the 
exercises given in the complete word list. And lastly the questions from 
the model test papers 1 to 5 given in the end of the book.
b) Reading Comprehension(5 questions): Prepare the chapter on reading 
comprehension from GRE Barrons' 12th edition. And also the one given in 
the model test papers. I got the one already solved by me and it saved a 
lot of time.
c) Fill in the blanks in a paragraph(7 questions): No special preparation 
required for this, just read the options properly.

2. Aptitude(38 questions, 40 minutes)

Just go through the previous papers they are more than enough. It is the 
easiest part of the exam. The questions were just as asked previously. To 
be very confident solve some important chapters of Quantitative Analysis 
by R.S. Aggarwal.

3. Reasoning(12 [3*4] questions, 30 minutes)

For this part solve chapter on reasoning and model test papers again from 
Barrons.

Section6 - qns 1-4 (conservative,democratic), qns 8-11 (latin, sanskrit),

The online test is not very difficult to crack just follow the above 
guidelines and you will definitely get through it. Listen carefully the 
instructiong given after the presentation regarding the online test. A 
countdown timer will be present on the screen to inform you about the 
remaining time. After the scheduled time the section will automatically 
change to the next one.

Interview(January 27, 2008):

Technical round:

Prepare well C, Object Oriented Programming, C++, Data Structure and brush 
up the fundamentals of Operating System, Database Management System and 
Data Communication. There were two people both young who took my technical 
interview. Be confident coz they may try to confuse you. I told that my 
favorites are Object Oriented Programming and DBMS. I was asked various 
fundamental questions on DBMS and Operating System(Not a single question 
on OOP), I answered most of them correctly next they asked to normalize a 
table and kept me engaged in it for more than 25 minutes. Atlast i asked 
them about the R&D department of TCS. Be positive and keep on trying, they 
may even make fun of you but dont pay attention to it and keep working. 
Positive attitude and confidence along with knowledge are the key to clear 
this round. The interview continued for about 40 min+.Out of 108 about 55+ 
were selected. I was called for the HR round after 3 hrs.

HR + MR:

For some there were two different rounds but for other like me it was 
combined. Again there were two people one male and the other female. Both 
were young. They began with asking questions about me, my weaknesses and 
all. Then the questions continued from one thing to other. I was also 
given some situations and my action in that particular condition was 
asked. The major thing is be confident and truthful, Don't try to fool 
them, Be ready with facts to support your answers and ya be thorough with 
your Resume. Keep eye contact and keep your face smiling, there is no need 
to panic they just want to test you under certain conditions. My interview 
continued for 50 min+. In the end they discussed about the Bond and other 
things. I asked them that what is their criteria to ask questions. They 
replied that they have a question bank and the questions are asked on the 
basis of our marks, resume, and body language.

Finally the result was out and 33 of us were selected. Luck do matters but 
hard work has no substitution. I invested 20 days+ for the preparation and 
in the end was successful, so guys be confident and prepare well, you will 
definitely be selected.

The selection procedure for Infosys consist of just two parts: Written 
exam and HR round. The eligibility criteria was 60%+ in 10th and 12th, and 
65%+ in B.E. The exam was conducted in M.I.T. Ujjain. 90+ students 
appeared from my college U.E.C. Ujjain. 

Written Exam(sectional cutoff was there):

1. Aptitude(30 questions, 40 minutes):

No special preparation required for this part, I had previously solved R.S 
Aggarwal's Quantitative Analysis and i easily solved 20+ questions, to be 
sure solve R.S. Aggarwal's verbal&non verbal(i haven't seen that book).
Q1.) 5 questions on a question dealing with five numbers, you have to put 
the condition and find the five values.
Q2.) 5 quest were based on figures in which we have to find the odd one
Q3.) 5 ques. were based on data suffiency.
Q4.) 5 ques. were on line graph.(Data Interpretation)
Q5.) 5 ques. were based on syllogism.
and five other questions.
Over all aptitude section was logical and easy.I think the cutoff was 
around 20 out of 30.

2. English(40 questions, 35 minutes):

There were two very lengthy passages which were quite easy, one was on 
current issues(could be editorial of TOI etc.) 5+5 questions were asked on 
passages. Most other parts were on grammar. I didn't studied anything for 
it. You can refer to any standard book on grammar. While solving make it 
appoint that you check all the options properly because their is just 
minute difference between them. This section is the decisive factor coz 
the first section is easily cleared by almost everyone. I think the cutoff 
was nearly 24+ out of 40.
1) Two RC
2) Replace an underlined sentence with another one which is of the same 
meaning 
from the given 4 alternatives. 
3) Fill in the blank with correct alternative. 
4) Questions to choose the option which supports/opposes the given 
passages. 
5) Select the correct statement from the set of 4 statements. 


After about 2 hours the result of written exam was declared and only 18 of 
us cleared it. Next the inteview began. The one who took my interview was 
an aged person. Just be confident, positive and prepare well every thing 
related to your resume and hobby. Two puzzles were asked from me:
1. A bulb is hanging by a rope from the ceiling and it is just touching 
your head, you need to calculate the height of the room, clock can be used.
sol. Use the formula for time period of pendulum and u will get the length 
of rope and after adding your height the height of the room can be 
calculated.
2. A equation in roman numbers was given one movement was allowed so as to 
balance the equation(I wasn't able to solve  it)

After 1 hr+ the result was declared and 12 of us were finally selected. 
Clear the written exam and you are through 95% . Just keep smiling and be 
confident and u will definitely be selected.

Hi guys this is regarding my experience of the reliance energy placement
process conducted in my college VJTI Mumbai.

The placement process ws for mechanical , electrical and civil branches...

Since i m from electrical i ll talk w.r.t the electrical branch...

Firstly there was a pre placement seminar which explained the various
aspects of the company , their projects etc...

This was followed by a technical aptitude test . It was of 30 min with 30
questions..

The aptitude was contained more of switch gear and power systems questions
and lot of practical questions like practical values of many components in
industry..

The interview ws more of HR than a technical interview

Qs like what is your family background , what are your hobbies etc etc

In technical i was asked to draw construction of an underground cable ,
diff types of cables available in the market according to their ratings ,
then 2 3 questions abt dc motors...

After technical the interviewer asked me some qs abt general sports , the
wimbledon final , the euro final etc...

So all in all it was more of a friendly interaction than a grilling
interview . The interviewer was really friendly and made us feel at ease...


Final verdict : 25 out of 28 students got selected and placed wid a package
of 4.5 lakh annually......
