The ans is 31.
Explaination: There are in total 31 breads.
1st person ate 15.5+ 0.5 bread
2nd person ate 7.5+0.5 bread
3rd person ate 3.5+0.5 bread
4th person ate 1.5+0.5 bread
5th person ate 0.5+0.5 bread

Answer
let the total no of breads be x.

     1st man 2nd man
x- (x/2) - 1/2 - 1/2((x-1)/2) - 1/2 ..... so on.

ans is 31.

first ate : 15.5 + .5 = 16 remaining 15
second ate : 7.5+0.5 = 8 remaining 7.
third ate : 3.5 +0.5 = 4 remaining 3.
fourth ate : 1.5 + 0.5 = 2 remaining 1
fifth ate : 0.5 + 0.5 = 1 remaining 0

Answer
x= (x/2+1/2)+(x/4 +1/2)+(x/8+1/2)+(x/16+1/2)+(x/32+1/2)

hence
x=2.5+(31/32)x
(1/32)x=2.5
x=2.5*32
x=80

Venkat has 1boy&2daughters.The product of these children
age is 72.The sum of their ages give the door numberof
Venkat.Boy is elder of three. Can you tell the ages of all
the three.

Answer
since the product is 72, there are only 12 possibilities.
the product and sum are
1 1 72 = 74 2 2 18 = 22
1 2 36 = 39 2 3 12 = 17
1 3 12 = 16 2 4 9 = 15
1 4 18 = 23 2 6 6 = 14
1 6 12 = 19 3 3 8 = 14
1 8 9 = 18 3 4 6 = 13
since the sum of their ages gives the door number of venkat
and venkat needs some more information, indicates that
there should be two same sums. that is
2 6 6 = 14
3 3 8 = 14
since the boy is the elder of three, he could be eight
years old. so the ages are the daughters are age 3 and boy
is aged 8.

Question
In a kingdom far far away, the King decided that the time
has come to find a husband for his princess daughter. The
King wanted to find a worthy lad for his princess, so he
promised to give his daughter away to the first young (or
old) man who would solve the puzzle that has stumped the
best of his court mathematicians for years. The puzzle is
very simple: in a palace, there are 25 rooms arranged in a
square--5 rows of rooms with 5 rooms in each row. In every
room there is a light switch which not only switches on/off
the light in that room, but also switches the lights in the
adjacent rooms--the room to the right, to the left, the
room above and the room below. Initially, all of the
lights are turned off. The goal is to turn the lights on
in every room of the palace.

I believe the above 2 answers are not appropriate because,
the question says "if digits of X are reversed then we
obtain NEW number say Y". i.e., The digits arent Palindrome.

Answer
consider any 3 digit number first...
100a+10b+c
reverse it-
100c+10b+a
if these two numbers are divisible by 7 even their
difference must be
so
99(a-c) is div by 7
-> a-c=7n
c can't be 0
so possible combinations-
8,1(you can also consider n=0 ->a=c)
and 9,2 ->numbers- 952,259,861,168(palindromes-707,77,868,777)

Sanchit

Answer
palindromes won't work.
since when the digits of X are reversed,it should be a new
number Y. 77,707,343 and 777 ,all on reversing is giving
the same number.

Answer
The correct answer is D i.e. 33.3
if x = amt sold at 5% profit, y = amt sold at 20% profit
x+y=100
5x + 20y = 1500
solving the above equations we get
x=33.3

would have answered black. when he says he doesnot know that

white and black or both black.
2. if s sees a white cap on c he would have readily shouted
black as if his head had white cap then m would have

person in back has three scenarios where he would be
uncertain; if the front combo is black and black or black
and white. knowing that, the person in front has one
scenario to be uncertain in in those two scenarios; if the
guy in front of him is wearing a white hat he knows that
his(second) hat will be black in order to make the third guy
uncertain but if the front most guy is wearing a black hat
then the second guy can be wearing either white or black.
knowing this, the frontmost guy will know he has a black hat.

Answer
1. Maninder – Can answer when others are wearing white
caps. But he gets confused as Sunder & Chander are wearing
either combination of Black & White or both Black caps.

2. Sunder - Since Manindar doesn’t know his cap color,
Sunder also concluded that he and Chander are wearing
either combination of Black & White or both Black caps.
If Chander wares white cap then Sunder may answered as
Black for himself. But Chander is wearing Black so there
are chances of wearing himself as Black or White caps. So
he is not in the position to conclude.

3. Based on the above 2 guys conclusion only option for
Chander to conclude for himself is wearing Black and

Answer
25.6 ish.

Depends wether it means 1.5% as a percentage of the paper
rate or as a percentage of the 6.5% inflation on the paper
rate. In the case of the latter, you should :

25 * 0.065 * 1.015 + 25 = x ( cost after one year ).

x * 0.065 * 1.015 + x = 29.4

In the case of the former the total increase rate is 1.5% +
6.5% = 8%

so

25 * 1.08 * 1.08 = 29.16

Chris

Answer
Ans. 29.16

Total inflation = 6.5+1.5 for 1 year.

25 ( 1 + 8/100)^2 = 29.16

Answer
CASE 1: First we should take six balls divided equally and
then it is placed on the two pans.three on one and three on
other..
if the two pans are balanced then the defective ball is not
in the six..then we should the two and keep them one ball
on each.
CASE2: Again We should take any of the six balls and
divided equally and then it is placed on the two pans.. if
any of the pan weighs less than the other.. We should take
the three balls seperately..Now from that three we should
take any two and placed one on each.. fi both the pan
balances the ball which is left over is the defective.. if
one ball weighes less than the other, while keeping one on
each, then it is the defective one....

Answer
divide the balls into three groups. Let group A contains 3
balls group B contains 3 balls and group C contains 2 balls.
FIRST TIME: BALANCE the groups A and B.
case 1:
If they are equal then the defective ball is in group C.
case 2: if they are not equal then take the group of 3
balls which has less weight.
SECOND TIME:
IF the defective ball is in group C, we can easily find the
ball which is less.
if the defective ball is in group of 3 which has less
weight, take 2 balls out of this group and find the weight.
if they are equal, then the left out is defective. if not
we can find easily the ball which weigh less.
so we have the following steps:
                 A (3) B(3) c(2)
                |_____________| |
first time /\ |
unequal equal then c has defective.use
