Question
why we are caling 440 volt 3 phase supply instead of 660 
volt 3 phase supply? because each phase as a voltage of 220 
volt. if anybody know the answer for my question please 
send it to my mail id. thank you.

It can be justified from the phasor diagram....the effective
value can be determine as sqroot(3)*v.

Because its a phasor sum not an arthimetic sum, all three
phases are displaced each other 120 degree apart, so we
have to add them taking consideration of this angle

The sum of any 2 phases is 440. This is a rough estimate as
several factors can play on the load side of the circuit.
Between any one wire (phase) and ground can be 207VAC to
277VAC (with no Load). It's that way because the electrons
said so . . . I talked to them last week.
