what is the difference between core & shell type 
transformer ?& where we use those transformers ?

core type transformer has greater core while shell type has greater windings.shell type construction is more cost effective in case of transformers above 50kva.

Core type construction: For large low voltage transformers
Shell type construction: For small high voltage transformers

in a core type transformer,the core is surrounded by the
windings. in shell type, the winding is surrounded by core.

In shell type transfomer flux is divided into two different path so core loss or iron loss is less in shell type transformer than core type transformer

In core type transformers Each and every limb is ocupied with the both primary and secondary winding aree placed succesively arround each limb
In shell type ransformers is consturcted with the three limbs.
both primary ad secondary winding are wound around the central lmb..........
