Answer
# 1
ok here it is csu/dsu

csu=chanel service unit it is a digitla mechnaism that
connect end use equpment to the local digital telephone loop

dsu=data sevice unit this device is used to adapt the
phycial interface on the data terminal equpment for the
transmission facility and also responsble for signal timing

so csu/dsu=so it is a phycial layer device used in WAN
toconvert the cpe signal to what is understood by the
provider switch.it is a device which can be pluged directly
to RJ-45(8 PIN MODULE)and this is also referd as
demarcation point

i am not also 100% satishfied with that article but think
it will help you little.

Answer
# 2
Channel Service Unit/Data Service Unit (CSU/DSU) acts as a
modem and converts digital signals to analog signals.
CSU/DSU recognizes the Layer 1 details of serial link
installed by the telephone companies and connects to the
LAN through a router. A serial cable is used to connect
CSU/DSU to the router.

Answer
# 3
A CSU/DSU (Channel Service Unit/Data Service Unit) is a
digital-interface device used to connect a Data Terminal
Equipment device or DTE, such as a router, to a digital
circuit (for example a T1 or T3 line).

A CSU/DSU operates at the physical layer (layer 1) of the
OSI model. CSU/DSUs are also made as separate physical
products; CSUs and DSUs. The DSU or both functions may be
included as part of an interface card inserted into a DTE.
If the CSU/DSU is external, the DTE interface is usually
compatible with the V.xx or RS-232C or similar serial interface.

Digital lines require both a channel service unit (CSU) and
a data service unit (DSU). The CSU provides termination for
the digital signal and ensures connection integrity through
error correction and line monitoring. The DSU converts the
data encoded in the digital circuit into synchronous serial
data for connection to a DTE device.
