Walkthrough :A walkthrough is a set of procedures and
techniques designed for a peer group, lead by the author to
review software code. It is considered to be a fairly
informal type of review. The walkthrough takes the form a
meeting, normally between one and two hours in length.

1	Led by the Author
2	Attended by a peer group
3	Varying level of formality
4	Knowledge gathering
5	Defect finding

------------
Reviews are of 3 types

1) Technical Review: A Technical Review (also known as a
peer review), is considered to be a formal review type,
even though no Managers are expected to attend. It
involves a structured encounter, in which a peer/s analyse
the work with a view to improve the quality of the original
work.

1	Ideally led by the Moderator
2	Attended by peers / technical experts
3	Documentation is required
4	No Management presence
5	Decision making
6	Solving technical problems

2) Inspection Review: An inspection is a formal type of
review. It requires preparation on the part the review team
members before the inspection meeting takes place. A follow-
up stage is also a requirement of the inspection. This
ensures that any re-working is carried out correctly.

1	Led by a Moderator
2	Attended by specified roles
3	Metrics are included
4	Formal process
5	Entry and Exit Criteria
6	Defect finding

3) Informal Review: An informal review is an extremely
popular choice early on in the development lifecycle of
both software and documentation. The review is commonly
performed by peer or someone with relevant experience, and
should be informal and brief.

1	Low cost
2	No formal process
3	No documentation required
4	Widely used review

Review: Once the Test cases are created, it will be given
for the review to the peers of the project. This process is
in existence for test case creation and execution since
every one’s perspective of writing test cases and finding
defects are not the same.

Some organizations even have Peer Review 1 and Peer Review
2 and the final review will be done by the Test Lead. The
Test Lead Finalizes and gives assurance that the Review was
done and nothing was missing from the requirement. The
review happens for all the Iterations, Change Request and
Enhancements.

Walkthrough is a common term used during the informal
meeting. In every project many walkthrough will happen to
discuss about Business requirements, BCP plan, project
evaluation along with managers etc. No pre-preparation is
needed for this kind of meeting

Inspection is a formal meeting which is a pre-planned
activity. The appointment is generated for this meeting.
The Inspection may happen any time during the project
phase. This may include the developers, testers, managers
and even the client. The inspection is documented and
circulated among the team members.
