started in 1786, and the Bank of Hindustan, both of which
are now defunct.

india". The Hindustan bank was also established at the same
time but was a failiur. In 1786 "The General bank Of India"
was recognised hence it is said to be established in 1786
i.e. the banking in india started in 1786.
