Answer
# 1
The very useful advantage of open delta connection is to
detect ground fault at any bus or line of a system. usually
open delta connection transformer is used in potential
transformer to detect ground fault as a 3rd core of PT.

with use of open delta connection maintenance of
transformers is possible . If load on two transformers
increase than we can install another transformer and close
the delta in future .

By the open delta connection of PT we can monitor the
neutral shifting of the system as well as it can be use in
the genetating end substation for the maintenance of the
transformer in the time of low load demand.

There are two biggest advantages:
1) In an unearthed system like capacitor banks, it is possible to detect ground faults though earth path is not available.

2) In case of bulk power transmission where transformer banks are used, their advantage is that if one leg is out for maintenance/replacement than also approx. 57% power can be transmitted.

Is This Answer Correct ?    10 Yes 1 No
