A dynamo is a small size dc generator which varies with 
load whereas an alternator is a synchronous generator 
having a constant speed of rotation independent of load.

In practical there is no dc generator.Induced emf in an 
any generator is always ac,but by using commutator we are 
converting ac in to unidirectional supply.So the dynamo is 
an electrical equipment which consists of commutator and it 
gives unidirectional curent[not perfect DC]. The another 
name of the dynamo is called as DC GENERATOR.
 Alternator is an electrical equipment which dont have 
commutator arrangement and it gives ac supply.

 the names independent of the size .

NOT PERFECT DC means the dc generater give unidirectional 
current its like as the ouput of full wave rectifier.but 
the DC supply have zero freq.
