Re: what are the types of sus station ?
Answer
# 1
There are mainly three types of sub-stations.
1.step up/down substations-where stepping up or stepping
down of voltage has done.
2.power factor improvement sub station-where power factor
is improved by installing capacitor banks or synchronous
condensors.
3.switching sub stations- Where switching action like
switching on or off has done for maintenance purposes for
other reasons.

Is This Answer Correct ?    1 Yes 1 No

Answer
# 3
These are main types of sub-stations.
1.at generating stations: step up voltage to higher level
2.at intermediate stations: step down voltage to lower level
say 400Kv to 11kv, and power factor improvement may be also
doing within these sub station

3.At load center: Where voltage is getting down to 400volts,
and this is near to be load center

some practicle study shows that the reactive power at the receiving end is not equal to the reactive power at the sending end.But according to theory the reactive power is exchanged by different parts of the network – capacitors and reactors permanently, but is never consumed or produced. Then Where that reacrtive power loss occuring?is there any formula to calculate reactive power loss?  1
