tar command is file archiving cmd and extracting cmd in linux.

create 
 tar -cvf /tmp/ram.tar /etc/passwd
this command makes compress the /etc/passwd datas and stored
in /tmp/ram.tar

Extract
 tar -xvf /tmp/ram.tar
extract the data in existing file is /tmp/ram.tar
