I have recently seen a transformer which had two primary 
terminals and was connected between two lines,i would like 
to know what kind of transformer is it?short discription 
about it,any advantages,purpose of usage of the 
same.............

not sure:
  but it may be booster transformer in which the line 
itself acts as primary and secondry is supplied with 
another source.

This may have two feeder from Different substation,if one 
fails another will be feed supply,this for uninterruped 
power supply to consumer side...

its not transmission or distribution transformer my friend 
its inside a machine which uses three phase supply

my it may be communication purpose were in 440v reciving 
stations TO genarating station there is direct 
communication line

This type of Transformer will have two type of voltage 
conversion..For example-440/230 & 440/110 or 440/230 & 
230/110.

Types of Bushing transformers:
One bushing transformers & Two bushing transformers 

One bushing transformers:
The one bushing type has one terminal for the primary hot 
to connect to. One bushing transformers are used mainly for 
setup up three phase transformer banks, since the terminals 
are located in a little better position for this type of 
setup.

Two bushing transformers:
The two bushing type (most common) have two primary 
terminals on top of the pole can for both primary 
conductors to connect to. . The second primary terminal in 
on the back side of the can (180 degrees opposite the 
secondary terminals)
