A good Test Engineer;
Should learn the AUT well.
Shouldn't feel testing as monotonous.
Should test from end user's point of view.

To be a good Test Engineer he/she should have the following
Skills:

1)Should have Domain knowledge related to project
2)Should have knowledge of capturing all the possible scenarios
3)While testing is going he should have the capable of
testing as an End user
4)Should have good Analytical skills
5)Should have the guts to intimate defects to Developers
without any hesitation

To be good tester you should 

1.think +vely and -vely
2. be frank and open to report bugs
3.shouldn't get afraid of technolgies( for eg: you are
testing a .net based application and u dont know what is .net,
in that situation you should not get upset)
4.good analysing.
