Re: why active power is called as real power or working component. What is the exact function of active, reactive & apperent power.
Answer
# 1
reactive power is that power that flows to and fro in the
load and it does not have any active part in the load and it
will not be absorbed by the load and where as active power
tha load absorbs tha real power ie VI cosphi apparent
power is the vector sum of the two

Answer
# 2
Active power----is called real power. it is VI cos(Phi).
that is usable or cunsumable by the load.
Reactive power--it is VI Sin (phi). it is unconsumable.so
we need to finesh it by any mean.
Apprant power---that does have any realtion with the power
factor.

Answer
# 3
In layman's terms, Active Power (expressed as Watt,
Kilowatt etc)is the real power consumed for functioning of
an electrical load (say a Motor). All inductive loads
require to maintain a magnetic field for which some power
is consumed, which is called as Reactive Power. Apparent
Power, expressed in terms of Volt-Ampere (VA) or kilo-volt-
Ampere (KVA) does not have any function but is a
measurement value of cumulative power consumption of Active
Power and Reactive Power. The higher the reactive power
consumption of a load, larger would be the difference
between the kW and KVA. This ratio is called as Power
Factor. For example in case of a load of 100 kW and its
measured apparent power of 120 KVA, the Power Factor is
about 0.83. In case reactive power compensation is
provided through capacitors, the power factor can be
improved to Unity (1.00), wherein the Active Power and
Apparent Power would be the same.
