Methodologies or Models....

There is a lot of confusion around these two. 

If you are really talking about Methodologies...then there 
are 2 (or 3 arguably)types.

1) White Box.
2) Black Box. (Mostly used.)
3) Gray Box. Although not many will ask you about this.

If you are talking about models...

1) V model (Mostly used)
2) Waterfall model
3) Spiral....etc.

asked in interviews about methodologies i replied waterfall,
v model, spiral.

Spiral are comes under SDLC(Software Developing life cycle)

V-Model
Pet Model
Fish model are comes under STLC(software Testing Life Cycle)

This answaer is for Swapna: Depending on the project we 
will decide which model we need to follow for our project.



 for eg: there is an project where varification and 
validation of the s/w will happen simultaneously at one 
step after developing an module them test engineers will 
follow V-MODEL

Selection of s/w model is not dependent on the 
Organization, it depends on the Type of project
