  Re: Side of rhombus is 5cm and sum of lengths of diagonals is 12cm. what is the area of rhombus?
Answer
# 5
area of a rhomgus is 1/2 d1*d2; it's given d1+d2 = 12
(d1+d2)^2=d1^2 + d2^2 + 2*d1*d2
since diagonals are perpendicular to each other
(d1^2 + d2^2)/4 = 5^2 = 25

therefore, (d1+d2)^2 = 100 + 2d1d2;
which gives d1d2 = 22
so area = 11 cm sq
