In unix machine we can use the vs lookup hostname command 
we can get ip address of the particular machine.

if configure for unix machine
IP configure forwindows

Although the answer seems to be correct but as for the 
command, its actually: "ifconfig" in unix/linux machines 
and "ipconfig" in windows!

for windows "ipconfig"
"ipconfig/all"  means it will show the mac address and also
show the dns value of the particular machine, if not means
their is a problem in your dns.

in linux or unix u can use to know the ip address of the
system ifconfig -a
in windows you can use to know the ip address of the system
ipconfig or if you want to get more details type ipconfig/all.
